A NEW SOURCE FOR BIBLE STUDY AND PRAYERFUL REFLECTION
The Chair of Biblical Studies at the Ukrainian Catholic University, Rev. Dr. Yurij Shchurko, has initiated a series of Lectio Divina reflections. "Lectio Divina" is the excellent way of getting to know the Bible better and to better hear what the Word of God speaks to us personally. It involves reading passages from the Sacred Scriptures and reflecting on what, within that passage, 'speaks' to you. The Archbishop of Winnipeg, Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak explained this beautiful spiritual exercise back in April [see HERE].
Fr. Shchurko a well-known Bible enthusiast in the Ukrainian Catholic Church, has initiated a website ЖИТИ СЛОВОМ (Live by the Word) [see HERE]. In this website he has gathered materials that will be helpful for anyone who is interested in reading the Bible and the contents can be read, heard or viewed.
In the Lectio Divina section on his website, he offers a resource that will probably be most popular for clergy and lay-faithful alike - it is a presentation of the Bible readings for the following day together with his well-prepared reflections.
To give an idea of Fr. Yurij's style, in this earlier video clip he speaks about the Nativity narrative that we will hear we will enter into the preparation period before Christmas...
