WOMAN MAKES MASKS FOR THOSE WHO NEED THEM
April 7, 2020
IN THE MIDST OF THE PANDEMIC, WINNIPEG PARISHIONER USES HER SKILLS TO PROVIDE SOME SAFETY
Anne Rybak, a parishioner of Holy Eucharist Parish in Winnipeg, has been sewing facial masks that will be used around the parish while the Covid-19 Pandemic lasts. The masks have been used by the clergy and parishioners that make visits to fellow parishioners in their homes. Also, the masks have been available to volunteers that act as guides when the church is open for individual visits.
In a radio interview, Anne explained that, "I am not making them to make money. I am making them to keep our city healthy!" read the CHVN Radio 95.1FM interview HERE.
As more masks are made, more will be distributed to the residents of the Kildonan Horizons building across the street from the parish church. There is a great demand for such masks. Health professionals make it clear that the homemade masks offer only very limited protection from COVID-19, but what they can really be helpful for is reducing the risk of spreading the virus to others if the wearer is a carrier. However, as the virus spreads, that alone is a great help. If you would be interested in sewing some of these masks, please look at the videos here and/or contact Anne and see how this goodwill project can develop! Thank you Anne!
