TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE LENTEN MISSION SEASON
March 8, 2020
THROUGHOUT THE GREAT FAST: PRAYER; HOMILIES; REPENTANCE & NEW LIFE
As is traditional during the Great Fast, most parishes offer extraordinary opportunities for all parishioners to make the journey through spiritual renewal as we prepare for the celebration of the resurrection of our Lord. This means special Lenten services such as the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, the Way of the Cross, Akafits to the Cross and to the Passion of Christ, etc. It also means that the Sacrament of Penance - a.k.a. Confession - is scheduled more frequently and occasionally with "extraordinary" Confessors (i.e. the opportunity to go to confession to visiting priests other than the parish priest). Of course, there is also the Lenten Mission where a preacher is invited to deliver a series of talks about the spiritual life. Everyone looks forward to the Lenten Mission - which can last between a couple of days and an entire week - because it is a time to come to church outside the usual Sunday schedule and listen to talks that are specially prepared to deal with fundamental questions of our Christian Faith as lived in our Eastern Catholic experience.
Check with your local parish about what Lenten programs your Parish Priest has prepared. Check the bulletins and websites of your local parishes about the special Lenten Missions that may be scheduled in your area. Don't forget - you are always welcome to attend the Lenten Missions in any parish.
Some of the upcoming Lenten Missions include:
March 11th and 18th - Wednesday Evenings at St. Joseph Parish Winnipeg - His Grace, Archbishop Stefan Soroka
March 21st - Saturday Morning - A Women's Retreat at St. Nicholas Parish in Winnipeg - Fr. Gabriel Haber, OSBM
March 30th-April 1st - Morning and Evening at Holy Eucharist, St. Anne & St. Michael Parishes in Winnipeg - Fathers Alan Wizinsky, Mark Gnutel & Michael Kwiatkowski

Winnipeg's St Basil the Great Parish just held their Lenten Mission Days with Fr. Michael Hayes who came from the neighbouring Eparchy of Toronto.
Here is a video of some of his presentations....
"...Be imitators of God... walk in love... learn what is pleasing to the Lord.... "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light."... make the most of this time, because the days are evil... be filled with the Spirit..."
(Ephesians 5:1-21)
