WINNIPEG PAYS TRIBUTE TO PROMINENT UKRAINIAN FAMILY
June 10, 2017
MEMBERS OF ARCHEPARCHY HONOURED BY CITY OF WINNIPEG
The City of Winnipeg has honoured a prominent Ukrainian family for their great contribution toward the community in which they live as well as many other individuals and communities around the country. City Council has declared that for the next five years, Hutchings Street in Winnipeg will be known as Baranyk Way in honour of Leonard and Eleane Baranyk in recognition of their 37 years of support of the city’s economy and many families over the years. It was almost 40 years ago, the same year that Leonard and Eleane were married, that they gained ownership of Pratts Food Service and Pratts Wholesale – a food distribution service that provides products to hospitals, businesses, restaurants and even… parishes. Even though the Baranyks are now overseeing a national business that employs over a half thousand workers in different cities around Canada, they also continue to generously support their own Ukrainian Catholic parish among many worthy causes.
Leonard and Eleane also celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary – which you would never believe seeing them today. They remain young looking and probably what contributes to this is the kindness and thoughtfulness that they have shown to many, many families over the years and the fact that they still keep busy by remaining active in the Pratts business together with their sons. God bless them with many more joy-filled years. Mnohaya Lita!
