BELOVED CHANCERY VOLUNTEER DIES
September 3, 2016
JEAN ANNE KOWBEL, a volunteer at the Chancery of the Archeparchy of Winnipeg, passed away on the 28th of August 2016.
Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak and staff offered a Divine Liturgy in the Chancery Chapel on the morning of August 30th.
Jean, a parishioner of Holy Family Parish on Grant Avenue in Winnipeg was actually from Brandon, Manitoba. The Funeral services were conducted by Fr. Michael Tkachuk Parish Priest at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Brandon on September 3, 2016. Interment took place at Brandon Cemetery. Brockie Donovan Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Jean first worked for a number of years with PROGRESS, the Ukrainian Catholic weekly newspaper. She filled a number of positions including proofreader and even manager. When the paper closed down, Jean stayed on helping out in the Archeparchy’s records department.
Members of the chancery staff agreed that the prayer printed within the funeral memorial card appropriately portrayed the impression Jean made on everyone… “A Quiet Prayer… A loving nature, A heart of gold, The very best this world could hold. Never selfish, always kind. These are the memories you left behind. A silent thought, a quiet prayer – for a special person in God’s care.”
