November 4, 2024

On Saturday, November 2, the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Canada (UCWLC) in the Archeparchy of Winnipeg held its 41st convention at the Holy Eucharist Parish Centre, located at 460 Munroe Street. The convention centered around the theme: "Youth in our Church: How to Encourage and Engage."

The main speakers for the event were Fr. Mykhaylo and Iryna Khomitsky, who shared their valuable experiences working with parish youth. They suggested several effective approaches to bring young people to the church, including learning the faith, serving at the Divine Liturgies, organizing interesting and engaging summer camps, and actively listening to children. They emphasized that parishes should consider investing both time and money to sponsor events and programs specifically designed for youth.

The afternoon session was dedicated to discussions on League matters, reviewing financial statements, and the election of the new executive board. Cathy Evanyshyn of the Holy Eucharist parish (Winnipeg) was elected as the new president of the UCWLC in the Archeparchy of Winnipeg. Bishop Andriy presided over the installation ceremony, offering his congratulations and wishing the new executive board God's blessings in all their future endeavors.

Simultaneously, the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood in Manitoba and the Knights of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy held their own meetings, demonstrating a united effort within the Archeparchy to address important matters and foster engagement among their members.
