Harry Chuckry started his earthly journey on February 3, 1936, in Rembrandt, Manitoba. He was baptized in the Nativity of BVM Church in Rembrandt in June of the same year. He was the beloved son of John Chuckry of Rembrandt, Manitoba, and Tekla Hykaway of Meleb, Manitoba. Harry grew up in a large and loving family with four brothers and four sisters.

Harry married Joan, and together they built a family full of love and devotion. They were blessed with six children: four sons and two daughters.

His education began in Rembrandt, where he attended grade school. Later he went on to complete his high school in Teulon. Driven by a passion for teaching, he pursued teacher's training at Winnipeg Teacher's College and later obtained an education degree from the University of Manitoba. As a result, he dedicated 42 years to the field of education, serving as a teacher, vice-principal, and principal, inspiring countless students with his wisdom and kindness.

Later in life Harry Chuckry began his spiritual journey by answering the Call to Priesthood. He undertook diaconal studies in the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg, which laid the foundation for his future ministry. He was ordained as a subdeacon at Holy Eucharist Church in West Selkirk on August 14, 1997, by bishop Stefan Soroka, and later as a deacon at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary church in his home parish in Rembrandt also by Stefan Soroka on August 19, 1998.

His calling led him to the priesthood, and he was ordained by Metropolitan Michael Bzdel on June 3, 2005, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Gimli. Fr. Harry devoted his entire ministry life to serving the Interlake Pastoral District, providing spiritual guidance, support, and comfort to his parishioners in more than 20 churches. His service was characterized by a profound sense of humility, compassion, and dedication.

After a long and fulfilling career, Fr. Harry retired in August of 2021. He spent his retirement years surrounded by family, reflecting on a life well-lived and the many lives he touched through his service and taking care of his horse.

Fr. Harry Chuckry's life was a testament to his call to priesthood in the Ukrainian Catholic Church, his dedication to education, and his love for his family.

As we say goodbye to Fr. Harry, we remember his life with gratitude and admiration. His contributions to his family, his students, and his faith community have left a lasting legacy. He will be dearly missed by the many people whose lives he touched and enriched.

May his soul rest in eternal peace of God.
