A SUMMER FULL OF FAITH AND FUN

July 11, 2024

This summer, the Ukrainian Catholic children's camp is full of excitement, activity and sun. Nestled in a picturesque setting, the camp offers children a unique blend of faith, friendship, and fun.

At the heart of the camp's activities is catechism. Each day, the children engage in sessions that deepen their understanding of their faith. Through interactive lessons, discussions, and activities, the camp ensures that catechism remains a central part of the children's experience.

The teachings are woven into the fabric of the camp, guiding the children in their spiritual journey and helping them grow in their faith.

The highlight of the camp this year was a special visit from Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak OSBM. His presence was a significant for both the campers and the staff. In his preaching at the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Lawrence emphasized the importance of making new friends and building strong, supportive relationships.

He posed a thought-provoking question to the young campers: "Is it mission impossible or mission possible?" We think this challenge inspired the children to reach out, connect, and form lasting bonds with their peers.

After an enjoyable lunch, His Grace captivated the audience with a traditional tale about Ogo-Pogo. Known for adding unique twists to the story each time he told it, this time it began with a fearsome slurping mosquito, notorious for its bad habit of slurping everything in sight. The children totally engaged as the tale unfolded, culminating in Ogo-Pogo emerging from the lake to devour the giant mosquito, much to the campers' delight.

The Ukrainian Catholic Children's Camp is more than just a summer vacation; it's a place where children come to learn, grow, and create memories that will last a lifetime. With the guidance of Metropolitan Lawrence, hard work of camp director Sophia Korban and the dedicated camp staff and volunteers, the children are embarking on a mission that is not just possible, but truly transformative.
