GERALD MCVAY REPOSES IN THE LORD

GERALD MCVAY, FATHER OF WINNIPEG-BORN PRIEST, REPOSES IN THE LORD AFTER LONG LIFE OF 93 YEARS

The servant of God, Gerald McVay, loving husband of wife of Irene and father of priest Father Athanasius, died on October 8^, 2023 after a long and filled life at the age of 93. In his extraordinary life of changes and considerable accomplishments his love for and involvement in the Ukrainian community and the Ukrainian Catholic Church will stand out for many. A truly inspiring aspect was how he and his wife blessed and encouraged their only son in the realization of his vocation to the priestly ministry and dedicated service of the Lord and His People.

Although he resided at Holy Family Home with his wife, Gerald died at Grace Hospital where he was undergoing care for several weeks. A full obituary may be found on the website of Korban Funeral Chapel [HERE]

Funeral liturgy will be celebrated by Rev. Dr. Athanasius McVay on at 10:00 AM on Monday October 16, 2023, at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church (737 Bannerman Avenue).

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that a Holy and Divine Liturgy be offered for Gerald's eternal repose. 'Please remember Gerald's soul and his grieving family in your prayers.'
