WINNIPEG CLERGY GATHER FOR ANNUAL RETREAT
The clergy of the Archeparchy of Winnipeg - Bishops, Priests and Deacons, as well as Candidates for ordination - have gathered at a location away from their daily pastoral duties, to spend time in prayer and fellowship and, especially, for spiritual renewal. Guiding them in this - is always a retreat director who delivers a series of inspirational talks that provide points for meditation and guidance to the clergy who seek to renew and strengthen themselves for continued pastoral ministry among the faithful entrusted to their care.
This year's Retreat Director is the relatively 'new' Auxiliary Bishop, appointed nine months ago, Bishop Andriy Rabiy. His first talk focused on how we identify ourselves as individuals and as servants of the Lord. "Who are you?" "How would you identify yourself?" How would you be identified?" He shared a number of colourful examples from his own life and from Sacred Scripture.
The group then moved over to the "Chapel" area and prayed a Moleben' to the first Bishop in Canada - Blessed bishop and martyr Nykyta Budka. The evening concluded with a bit of fellowship at which the clergy - who gather from around the province and are able to meet primarily at such occasions as the retreat and clergy conferences - were able to share a moment with brothers who share their experiences.
