A DAY OF PAYER, FASTING AND WORKS OF CHARITY

On February 24, 2023, a day of fasting, prayer and almsgiving will be held in all eparchies and exarchates of the Ukrainian Catholic Church throughout the world. This was announced on behalf of the Synod of Bishops by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC.
24 лютого 2023 року в усіх єпархіях та екзархатах Української Греко-Католицької Церкви в усьому світі буде проведено день посту, молитви та милостині. Таку ініціативу від імені Синоду Єпископів проголосив Блаженніший Святослав, Отець і Глава УГКЦ.
On February 24, a year will have passed since the beginning of the full-scale war that Russia unleashed against Ukraine. According to the decision of the bishops of the UGCC, the whole Church will spend this day in fasting, prayer and doing works of mercy.
On that day 12:00 noon Kyiv time (4:00 AM Winnipeg time), a 12-hour prayer marathon will begin on "ZhyveTV", which will unite in prayer all the faithful on all continents. There are no special directives for the fasting aspect - it is about restrictions and self-discipline according to the capabilities of each believer.
"Let this day be an opportunity for us to do good to someone: comfort the sad, clothe the naked, warm the frozen, feed the hungry," explained His Beatitude Sviatoslav, speaking about the need not only to fast and pray, but also to do charity.
"At this time, let us offer our spiritual efforts and our prayers for the victory of the Ukrainian People in this unequal battle, as well as for our army," urged the Head of the UGCC.

24 лютого мине рік від початку повномасштабної війни, яку росія розв'язала проти України. За рішенням єпископів УГКЦ, уся Церква цей день проведе в пості, молитві і творенні діл милосердя. Про це зазначає Департамент інформації УГКЦ.
Цього дня о 12:00 за київським часом на «Живому телебаченні» розпочнеться 12-годинний молитовний марафон, який об'єднає у молитві всіх вірних на всіх континентах. До посту немає окремих приписів - ідеться про обмеження і самодисципліну відповідно до можливостей кожного вірного.
«Нехай цей день стане для нас нагодою комусь вчинити добро: сумного потішити, нагого одягнути, змерзлого зігріти, голодного нагодувати», - пояснив Блаженніший Святослав, говорячи про потребу не тільки постити та молитися, а й чинити милосердя.
«У цьому часі жертвуймо свої духовні зусилля і наші молитви за перемогу українського народу в цій нерівній борні, а також за наше військо», - закликав Глава УГКЦ.
