NEW METROPOLITAN ELECTED FOR WINNIPEG

BISHOP ILARION OF EDMONTON CHOSEN AS PRIMATE OF THE UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH IN CANADA

According to a press-release of Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople has informed Bishop Ilarion of Edmonton that he has been elected "unanimously" by the Holy Synod.

His Grace, Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak asked that the faithful of the Ukrainian Catholic Church be notified of this happy news. As he has enjoyed a very positive collaboration with the former Orthodox Metropolitan Yurij of Winnipeg as well as the former Chancellor of the Consistory - Archpriest Taras Udod, Metropolitan Lawrence looks forward to maintaining the same relationship with the new Metropolitan Ilarion.

We will share information regarding Metropolitan-elect Ilarion's move to Winnipeg and his installation as it becomes available.

May the Lord bless His Eminence Ilarion and grant him many joy-filled and successful years in his new ministry among God's People.
