METROPOLITAN FROM POLAND THANKS WINNIPEG ARCHBISHOP AND ARCHEPARCHY FOR ASSISTANCE RECEIVED THROUGH CNEWA
The Metropolitan Eugene of Peremyshl, Poland - one the 'epicentres' for refugees escaping from Ukraine - expresses his gratitude to Metropolitan Lawrence of Winnipeg and to all the generous donors of the Archeparchy for their help for the 2 million displaced families now sheltered in Poland.
In his letter of thanks, His Grace, Metropolitan Eugene Popowicz, mentions the following information....
"From the beginning of the war, over two million refugees have come to Poland, the majority among them are women, children and the elderly. They all are in need of help and support. The first contact with these refugees is usually here in the city of Peremyshyl. We have organized a humanitarian aid centre and arranged for countless places for rest and shelter. The majority of our local Faithful volunteer to help the refugees and they are joined by the seminarians and priests."
Thanks to your efforts, the Church organization CNEWA forwarded to us financial aid in the amount of $100,000.oo, which has been designated for the purpose of helping, at least in some way, those in need: to buy food and necessities, clothing, medicine..." "the funds are even used for the most essential things for those in need that arrive exhausted and with no more than a little bag in their hands."
"Most Reverend Metropolitan [Lawrence], accept our recognition and words of deep respect and gratitude for your help for our own brothers and sisters that are fleeing the war to save their lives!"
