November 4, 2021
UKRAINIAN CATHOLIC TELEVISION NETWORK ZHYVE.TV EMBARKS ON ENGLISH LANGUAGE SERVICE
Ukraine's television network Zhyve.tv ("Living/Alive TV") is launching an English language service. This long-awaited prospect for the many members of the Ukrainian Catholic Church (UCC) that live within English-speaking countries is being welcomed with not a little enthusiasm and a great deal of hope. This service will not only serve the members of the UCC, but will be a means by which the Church can share its rich and vibrant spiritual life with many millions more people who otherwise may not have access because of a simple language barrier.

A message from Zhyve.TV
Dear friends in Christ,
we are excited to announce that a successful media outreach project of the UGCC Department of Information of the Patriarchal Curia - ZHYVE.TV - is ready to expand beyond the Ukrainian language for the first time. Beginning this week, we will bring you programming in English from Kyiv and around the world (English-language TV For the Eastern Catholic World).
The UGCC Department of Information and its media branch "Zhyve" TV has been providing informational media services using modern means of communication and employing professional journalists, media specialists and producers.
"OPEN CHURCH"
Our first project is a weekly news talk show called "Open Church." Most weeks on Monday, join us on Youtube and Facebook to listen to news from our Church and the Catholic Communion around the world. We'll also bring you interviews with all sorts of people: bishops, scholars, laypeople, and so on.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav joins Zhyve TV host Sonya Soutus for an exclusive interview to launch the series. In it they discuss:
-
What it means to belong to the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church.
-
Why the Church should speak English.
-
Lessons from the church of martyrs; surviving World Wars and authoritarianism.
-
Lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Zhyve" means "Alive." To be alive means to be in search of the truth. For the last 10 years, Zhyve TV has been asking the right questions to help uncover God's eternal truth through the Tradition of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church.
FORMER SUPREME KNIGHT OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
We also invite you to watch an interview in English with Carl Anderson during his visit to Kyiv (Oct. 19-21). Mr. Anderson was interviewed in the studio of "Zhyve.TV" in Kyiv by Rev. Volodymyr Malchyn, head of development and communicaitons office of the Patriarchal Curia.
In this interview Past Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus shares his ideas:
-
about the relevance of the founding principles of the Knights of Columbus in todays world,
-
why he decided to establish branches of the Knights of Columbus in Eastern Europe and why should Ukrainian men consider joining the Knights of Columbus,
and what is the significance of the beatification of Fr. Michael McGivney during these COVID times.
