METROPOLITAN LAWRENCE - 15 YEARS AS ARCHEBISHOP-METROPOLITAN OF WINNIPEG
February 11, 2021
The Archbishop of Winnipeg, Metropolitan Lawrence, just turned 70 in January and now we celebrate his 15 years at the helm of the Metropolitan See of Winnipeg. Later this year we commemorate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Ukrainian Catholic Metropolitan See of Winnipeg, Canada. This is all explored in a unique and exclusive interview here through our Archeparchial media.
Fifteen years ago, on 11 February 2006, His Grace, Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak, OSBM was installed as the Ukrainian Catholic Metropolitan-Archbishop of Winnipeg. The installation Liturgy and rite was presided over by the then Head of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar. As it was a time when pandemic restrictions were yet unthinkable, needless to say, hundreds of faithful, including many bishops, women religious and clergy participated in the joyful occasion of new hope.
Well, 15 years have passed rather quickly and much has happened since that special day in the history of the Church when Winnipeg received its third Ukrainian Catholic Metropolitan. His Grace, Metropolitan Lawrence, agreed to sit down for a 'conversation' in which he shared many insights and perspectives that only he could. He not only speaks of the ecclesial history, but he proposes what he believes must be the focus of the Archeparchy and of the Church in Canada in the coming years. He tells us about his monastic and priestly vocations and why he would encourage others to consider the same. Metropolitan Lawrence speaks quite frankly about a number of issues. He talks about the choices that he made in life... his faith.... the challenges that he faced ... and why he moves forward with hope. YOU WILL WANT TO WATCH THIS INTERVIEW!
