CANADA’S BISHOPS ASK US TO TAKE ACTION [& AND PROVIDE AN EASY METHOD]

October 30, 2020

CANADIAN BISHOPS OFFER AN EASY WAY FOR YOU TO WITNESS TO YOUR FAITH WHEN IT'S REALLY NEEDED

As you may recall, the CCCB recently published a statement with respect to the pressing issue of legislation (Bill C-7) currently tabled by the federal government regarding the expansion of euthanasia and assisted suicide ("Medical Assistance in Dying" / "MAiD") beyond people who are near the end of life [HERE] and has likewise co-signed an ecumenical/interfaith statement as well [HERE]

The contacts, consultants and experts with whom the CCCB has been working inform us that writing and sending communications to one's Member of Parliament is an effective way to get one's message across.

Given time and healthcare constraints, electronic mail seems to be the most expedient and effective option at this stage. In order to facilitate the communication, Deacon Larry Worthen from the Coalition for HealthCARE and Conscience has provided a platform to reach one's Member of Parliament easily, as well as an online sample letter which can be rewritten or modified by any person wishing to use it. The website link is VERY EASY TO FOLLOW and you can take action even right now, by clicking [HERE]

The Coalition for HealthCARE and Conscience is an association of 10 organizations, of which 6 are Catholic. The funding for the platform has come largely through the Archdiocese of Toronto. People who use the web site can stay informed of further initiatives to expand euthanasia in the future or be invited to participate in conscience protection activities at the provincial/territorial level.

Deacon Larry and associates have put together a short YouTube video on this relevant and important issue. Watch it here...
