FR DARREN KAWIUK CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF PRIESTLY MINISTRY

June 8, 2019

STS PETER & PAUL PARISH - SITE OF ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Fr Darren W. Kawiuk, parish priest at Sts Peter and Paul Parish in Winnipeg's Saint-Boniface district, was feted by the parish on Saturday, June 8, 2019 on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of priestly ordination. The afternoon began with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Grace Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak. Over sixteen brother priests were in attendance and most concelebrated at the Altar. Being the eve of the feast of Pentecost, the vestments were green and the entire church was adorned with green leafed branches and saplings as is the tradition.

The responses and hymns were led by a combined choir of singers from Sts Peter & Paul Parish and Holy Family Parish where Fr. Darren once served. In fact, since ordination, Fr. Darren, who originally came from St. Michael Parish in Transcona, has served in the Rossburn District parishes as well as the Winnipeg parishes of Sts Peter & Paul, Holy Eucharist and Holy Family. Faithful representing all these parishes were among the participants at the Liturgy and the following banquet dinner.

The banquet included a delicious meal provided by Ludwick Catering and an extensive program of greetings, audio-visual presentations and entertainment. Spencer Katernyuk served as the master of ceremonies throughout the evening.

Fr. Darren was ordained 12 June 1994. Aside from various pastoral assignments he has also been given the title of Protosyncellus (Vicar General) and Protopresbyter (Dean) of Winnipeg.

"I thank God for each and everyone of you, Thank you for coming into my life, Thank you for making me smile, and making me happy in my priesthood"
