November 23, 2023

The bishops of the UGCC note, that 90 years ago, Ukraine was murdered in cold blood on the direct orders and deliberate plan of the totalitarian communist regime led by Stalin, which aimed to destroy our people.

In the letter they say, that, the genocide of Ukrainians by the totalitarian regime was not in any way a deviation from Moscow's historical tradition. The insatiable Russian imperialism is the main reason for Holodomor and the same enemy of humanity as nazism, racism, fascism, and manifestation of hatred for human rights and denial of national, cultural, or religious freedoms.

The bishops agree, that, the empire was unable to kill Ukraine 90 years ago, however the descendants of the murderers are determined to complete what their predecessors did not achieve: "Continuing its unchangeable imperial strategy, Russia has once again attacked Ukraine and the world."

In the words of the bishops: "Today, our Church stands united with the majority of religious communities calling on the world to support Ukraine in its battle with the same enemy,"

Ukraine did not die 90 years ago. Freedom sprouted from the seeds buried in the palms of hands of Ukrainians, starved to death 90 years ago in Holodomor.

They invite all people: "We call on our faithful and all people of goodwill for solidarity and assistance in confronting the brutality of the enemy. We ask that the truth about the war in Ukraine would be shared around the world so that the enemy's propaganda does not find a place in the hearts of people."
