The Tri-Diocesan Manitoba Catholics for Life and Family committee (former Tri-Diocesan Committee on Life and Family) is a joint project of the Archeparchy of Winnipeg of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Winnipeg, and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. Boniface.
The Committee’s goal is to foster a culture that values life and family in parishes and society at large. The Committee organizes a variety of events and initiatives, particularly during National Life and Family Week, which include prayers, reflections, and actions to protect family and life at all stages — from conception to natural death.
The Committee’s activities are based on the belief that every person has inestimable dignity as a creature loved by God. It also addresses and responds to the current challenges and issues facing families in today’s society, advocating for vulnerable and marginalized populations.
The Committee’s mission is to organize various events and programs to support, promote, and celebrate life and family in Manitoba, including in local parishes. One of its key events is National Life and Family Week, which highlights the importance of valuing life in all its stages and the role of the family. Examples of events organized by the Committee each year include:
– National Life and Family Week: This week includes a series of events emphasizing the importance of valuing life at all stages and the role of the family.
– 100,000 Flags: In May, 100,000 flags are placed at St. Boniface Cathedral in memory of the 100,000 abortion victims in Canada each year.
– March for Life: Held in June, this event advocates for the protection of life.
– Grandparents Day: A day dedicated to honoring seniors, recognizing their contributions, and celebrating their role in families.
