Sharing Faith and Fellowship: Sacred Heart of Jesus and Holy Eucharist Celebrate Easter Together

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, the parishioners of Holy Eucharist Parish in Selkirk and Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Gimli came together for a beautiful celebration of faith and unity. Hosted at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Gimli, the morning began with a combined Divine Liturgy led by Father Stefan Tyrawski. The Gimli congregation was delighted to open its doors, warmly welcoming approximately twelve guest parishioners who made the journey from Selkirk to share in the spiritual gathering.

Following the Liturgy, fifty attendees gathered to enjoy a magnificent Easter dinner lovingly prepared by the hardworking members of the Sacred Heart Ladies Auxiliary. Father Stefan led the group in a prayer to bless the food before everyone was treated to a traditional and mouth-watering feast. The bountiful spread featured fresh Paska bread, savory roast pork, classic varenyky, and hearty meatballs, alongside both rice and buckwheat holupchi. A crisp variety of fresh salads and an irresistible assortment of desserts perfectly rounded out the festive meal.

The afternoon was filled with joyous conversation and a touch of excitement, highlighted by a surprise draw for a gorgeous floral centerpiece, which was happily won by a visiting parishioner from Selkirk. Ultimately, the shared celebration provided a wonderful opportunity not only to host fellow parishioners from Selkirk in the spirit of the Easter season but also to deepen and strengthen the enduring bond between the two parish families.
