Urgent Appeal: Support Manitoba Wildfire Evacuees – How You Can Help

June 5, 2025. Northwest Manitoba and parts of Saskatchewan are currently battling significant wildfires, leading to devastating losses of forests, homes, and essential infrastructure. The impact on evacuated communities is immense, with many residents forced to leave their homes and belongings behind in a hurry.

In these challenging times, the spirit of compassion and community support is more critical than ever. Many Manitobans, including homes, facilities, and churches, have already graciously opened their doors to welcome those displaced by the fires. However, the need for basic necessities for evacuees remains urgent.

The Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg asks parishes to initiate collection drives for those affected and parishioners respond generously. In a message underscoring the situation, Bishop Andriy stated, “In the spirit of compassion and support… the need for basic necessities remains urgent. We kindly ask you to consider organizing a collection drive in your parish(es) for needed items… or financial donations.”

The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is at the forefront of relief efforts, actively providing updates and coordinating aid for those impacted.
