This past weekend, from Friday, March 20, to Sunday, March 22, 2026, our parish family at St. Basil’s Church (Winnipeg) was richly blessed by a time of Lenten reflection and spiritual renewal, a sacred mission led by the humble and wise Sister Sophia. It was truly a grace-filled period—a time of blessing, purification, and renewal of the heart.
Through her humility, profound love, dedicated service, wisdom, and striking simplicity, Sister Sophia touched the hearts of many in our community. In our spiritual lives, we all often find ourselves in need of a guide—someone who can help us walk safely, lead us along the right path, and help us climb the mountain of faith without falling. Sister Sophia became for us that spiritual guide, helping us take the correct path, avoid spiritual harm, and continue our journey upward—toward the beauty of the Resurrection, for which we are diligently preparing in these coming weeks, as shown in the parish liturgical schedule above.
We are especially grateful that our children and youth were also included, with a special session prepared just for them, ensuring that the entire parish family could participate in this season of growth.
In conclusion, we join in prayer:
May the good Lord generously bless Sister Sophia and all the Sisters of St. Joseph for their wonderful mission in the Church of Christ. Let us continue to walk together toward Pascha, toward our salvation, carrying in our hearts the fruits of this mission. May this time of grace remain alive in the hearts and minds of all our parishioners—both young and old!
