Immaculate Heart of Mary School Hosts Clergy of the Winnipeg Deanery

WINNIPEG – The clergy of the Winnipeg Deanery gathered at the Immaculate Heart of Mary School (IHMS) on Thursday, October 2, for their regular Deanery Meeting to foster collaboration and strengthen community ties. This meeting was held at the kind invitation of Mr. Rod Picklyk, principal of IHMS.

The day commenced in the school gymnasium with the celebration of a Moleben to the Mother of God, that brought together the visiting clergy, staff and students of the school community. Following the service, Mr. Picklyk and Sister Patricia Lacey, SSMI, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, sharing their insights into the school’s rich history, enduring mission, and vibrant current ativities.

To provide a deeper understanding of the school’s environment, the clergy were led on a guided tour of the school facilities. This offered a unique opportunity to observe the classrooms in action, interact with teachers and students, and witness firsthand the dynamic and nurturing atmosphere that defines the student experience at IHMS.
After the tour, the school graciously hosted a delicious lunch, providing a time for fellowship before the formal meeting resumed. The agenda was centered on several key pastoral and parish initiatives. Discussions included the launch of a new online program for catechists set to begin this October, planning a Christmas initiative aimed at supporting children in Ukraine by collecting gifts and care packages to bring comfort and joy to those affected by the ongoing war. Furthermore, the group shared new ideas and initiatives for the “Welcome Home” program, seeking to reengage parishioners and strengthen community bonds.

The meeting concluded with the clergy expressing their profound gratitude to Mr. Rod Picklyk, the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, the entire staff, and students of the Immaculate Heart of Mary School for their exceptional hospitality and generosity in hosting a productive and spiritually enriching day.
