On Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Winnipeg (Canada), the Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, visited Bishop Emeritus Peter Stasiuk, who is currently hospitalized. During the visit, His Beatitude Sviatoslav administered the Holy Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick to the bishop and offered him Holy Communion.
The Head of the UGCC also spoke with the doctors attending to Bishop Peter, as well as Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak, who is still recovering from Covid-19, which he contracted in October.
As a gesture of gratitude, His Beatitude Sviatoslav presented certificates of appreciation to Dr. Terry Babick and Dr. Andrea Babik, and gifted them icons of the Most Holy Mother of God.
“With this patriarchal certificate, we wish to acknowledge and express our gratitude for your dedicated and persistent work for the good of the Ukrainian community in Manitoba, in particular the clergy, who, with your support, can worthily perform their service for the good of the Ukrainian people and the Lord. Appreciating your zeal for the glory of God and the good of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, we express our heartfelt gratitude and recognition,” the certificates state.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav wished the doctors “abundant blessings of the Lord, the help of the Holy Spirit in all your endeavors for the glory of God and the good of our Church and people.”
