The 41st convention of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada (UCWLC) for the Archeparchy of Winnipeg took place at the Holy Eucharist Parish Centre in Winnipeg on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The theme of the convention was “Youth in Our Church: How to Encourage and Involve.” Fr. Mykhailo Khomitskyy and his wife, Iryna Khomitska, served as the main speakers, sharing their experiences working with parish youth.

The guest speakers highlighted several effective approaches to engaging youth in the life of the Church. These include teaching the faith, having youth assist during Divine Liturgies, organizing engaging summer camps, and listening attentively to children. Fr. Mykhailo and Iryna also emphasized the need for parishes to invest time and resources in youth outreach activities and programs.

After lunch, the participants concentrated on discussing the affairs of the UCWLC, reviewing financial reports, and electing a new executive committee. Consequently, Ms. Katie Ivanyshyn from Holy Eucharist Parish (Winnipeg) was elected as president of the UCWLC in the Archeparchy of Winnipeg. The installation ceremony for the new leadership was conducted by Bishop Andriy Ryabiy, who congratulated the new executive committee and wished them God’s blessings in all their future endeavours.
