The 41st Convention of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada (UCWLC) for the Archeparchy of Winnipeg took place at the Holy Eucharist Parish Centre in Winnipeg on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The theme of the convention was “Youth in Our Church: How to Encourage and Involve.” Fr. Mykhaylo Khomitskyy and his wife, Dobrodiyka Iryna Khomitska, served as the keynote speakers, sharing their experiences in youth ministry.
The guest speakers highlighted several effective approaches to engaging youth in the life of the Church. These include teaching the faith, involving youth in the Divine Liturgy, organizing engaging summer camps, and listening attentively to children. Fr. Mykhaylo and Iryna also emphasized the need for parishes to invest time and resources in youth outreach activities and programs.
After lunch, the participants turned their attention to the affairs of the UCWLC, reviewing financial reports and electing a new executive committee. As a result, Ms. Cathy Evanyshyn from Holy Eucharist Parish (Winnipeg) was elected President of the UCWLC for the Archeparchy of Winnipeg. The installation ceremony for the new leadership was conducted by Bishop Andriy Rabiy, who congratulated the new executive committee and invoked God’s blessings upon their future endeavors.
