Episcopal Ordination of Father Michael Kwiatkowski to take place in Winnipeg

The episcopal ordination of Fr. Michael Kwiatkowski, who was elected the bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of New Westminster in Western Canada, will take place on November 8, 2023, at the Cathedral of Saints Volodymyr and Olha in Winnipeg. The Divine Liturgy will begin at 10:00 AM. On this day, we will celebrate the Feast of the Archangel Michael and the Other Incorporeal Powers.

Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak of Winnipeg, the main consecrator, will preside over the Liturgy. Archbishop Borys Gudziak, Metropolitan of Philadelphia, and Bishop David Motiuk, bishop of the Edmonton Eparchy, will serve as co-consecrators.

The day before, November 7, at 6:00 PM, Great Vespers with the Rite of Nomination and Proclamation (or Rite of Episcopal Ordination) will begin at the Cathedral of Saints Volodymyr and Olha.

The enthronement is scheduled for November 18, 2023, at the Church of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Vancouver. The ceremony will begin with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM.

As previously reported, on August 24, 2023, the Vatican announced that His Holiness Pope Francis, having blessed the decision of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, appointed Fr. Michael Kwiatkowski as the bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of New Westminster.
