Organizations
Archeparchial Pastoral Council A set of advisors who will investigate the Archeparchy’s pastoral life and recommend means to promote it and improve it. The Council is presided over by the Archbishop of Winnipeg and is composed of at least fifteen members of the Christian faithful appointed by him, with lay members comprising at least one-half of the Council. The members are to be chosen so as to be representative of the Christian faithful of the Archeparchy with regard to types of persons, associations and other endeavours. The pastoral council is a relatively new initiative and was established in April of 2004. Current members are:
Archeparchial Finance Council An organ of collaboration of the Christian faithful with the archeparchial bishop in the administration of the financial matters of the entire Archeparchy. The archeparchial finance council is presided over by the Archeparch of Winnipeg and is composed of at least three members of the Christian faithful appointed by him. The councillors are to be outstanding for moral integrity, capable of evaluating financial choices with an ecclesial spirit, and expert in civil law or finance, as testified by their professional qualifications and testimonials. Ukrainian Catholic Youth An organization that encourages and enables young people of our Ukrainian Catholic Christian community to share their gifts with their brothers and sisters in Christ supported in love by the community. All youth, young men, and young women, of the Ukrainian Catholic Church community are eligible for membership in the organization. The programs can be directed to three levels. The levels reflect the differing needs of the varying ages of youth. The three levels are: Junior High, Senior High, and Young Adults. The organization is made up of a spiritual director, youth, adults, and parents. In the Archeparchy of Winnipeg there are approximately 300 hundred members in the organization. The organization was established approximately sixty years ago, in 1944.

Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League An organization for developing and enriching the religious and spiritual life of each of its member in the context of Ukrainian Catholic Church, its liturgy, theology, spirituality and its practices and traditions. It is to preserve the Ukrainian language, cultural heritage and cultivate Ukrainian traditions. It is meant to broaden the moral understanding and deepen the sense of civic responsibility among the members. It is to initiate and support social action programs, which exemplify Christian ideals and values of justice and love, particularly those related to the sanctity of human life and the sacredness of the family. Also, to participate in service to persons and society, in works of mercy to the poor and sick, works of charity and mutual aid intended to relieve human needs of every kind, as well as assistance to groups and communities. Membership in the organization is available to all women of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and consists of a spiritual advisor. There are approximately 1225 members in the organization. The organization was established in June of 1944.
Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood the official organization of the men of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Canada. It acts in co-operation and agreement with the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Canada. The aim of the Brotherhood is centered on the Ukrainian Catholic faith, strengthening it by supporting, enriching and developing the religious and spiritual life of the parish. Membership in the Brotherhood is the expectation and obligation of every male parishioner in parishes where Brotherhood Branches exist. The parish priest is usually the spiritual advisor for the Brotherhood. The current estimated membership in the Archeparchy of Winnipeg is 240 members. The Brotherhood was founded in December of 1932 in the province of Saskatchewan.
Ukrainian Catholic Council An organization representing Ukrainian Catholics in Canada before all institutions, governments and organizations in Canada as well as in other countries. It is constituted from the national executives of the following organizations: Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood, Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League, Ukrainian Catholic Youth, and Knights of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy (Ukrainian Catholic Councils of the Knights of Columbus within the Archeparchy of Winnipeg). The organizations executive consists of twelve members plus a spiritual advisor. The Congress is the supreme legislative body of Ukrainian Catholics of Canada. The Congress is held once every three years in a rotating pattern in the eparchies of Winnipeg, Edmonton, Toronto, Saskatoon, and New Westminster. Members of this organization are those of the four previously mentioned organizations. The organization was established in July of 1946.
Knights of Columbus A fraternal organization for Catholic men and their families to provide for the widows and children of deceased Knights as well as to provide an avenue for Catholic men to serve their church and community and to continue to grow in the practice of their Catholic faith. In Manitoba the first Ukrainian Catholic Council was founded in 1955. An estimated 2,000 Ukrainian Catholic brothers and their families belong to Ukrainian Catholic Councils in Manitoba.
