Internet in the life of the families

October 20, 2014

At the Synod the issue of Internet’s impact on families was raised. Among the recommended for the Synod’s final summary document was the impact of the Internet on the family. The topic was raised in the Synod’s second week, during discussions held in the various language groups, by Archbishop Paul-André Durocher, president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.

There are blessings that Internet brings to married couples who met on Catholic dating sites and families who use the Internet for various resources that nurture their faith and prayer life.

However there is great danger of destroying values of marriade life with harm from online pornography and immoral dating or cheating sites. It has a huge impact on the way we view sexuality.

We have to realize that pornography and sex dating web sites is a huge business that involves the demeaning of women and human sexuality, and fidelity in marriage.

Problems presented by the Internet are very serious that need to be addressed and protect the values of the family life today.
