The Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of the Church of the Resurrection, Dauphin celebrated their 65 th Anniversary of the League and hosted the Regional convention on Saturday October 20 th with 57 delegates attending from Brandon, Ethelbert, Grandview, Oakburn, Portage la Prairie, Rossburn and Dauphin. The day began with registrations followed by a procession of flags with a Liturgy at 10:00 am. The guest speaker was Father Gregory Hrynkiw from Saskatoon SK who did his presentation during the Homily, speaking on Life in the Spirit. A memorial service followed for all deceased members of the Leagues in the region.

During the banquet which followed the Liturgy, the focus was on the 65 th anniversary of the League. Ed Smaluk, president of the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood brought greetings and gave the toast to the League. Brief greetings were presented by Helen Rolla, Chairperson of the Church Council, Bill Zaporzan, 4 th degree Knights of Columbus, Linda Rigey, Vice President Winnipeg Archeparchy Executive and Father Oleg Bodnarski, League Spiritual Advisor and Pastor of the Parish.

Mary Kokolski, founding member of the League was acknowledged for her work with the League and was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a 65 years of service pin.

The Brotherhood under the direction of Marvin Procyshyn entertained the gathering for the banquet with a few novelty folk songs.

After a brief break, the convention began. The minutes of the last convention in 2016 in Portage la Prairie were read by their president Genevieve Morris. Each Regional president or her representative gave reports from their League. Linda Rigey spoke on behalf of the Archeparchy on the future of the UCWLC, stressing the importance of encouraging new and younger members to join and carry on the work of the League.

Shirley Novalkowski in her concluding remarks gave an overview of the work of the League and thanked all who helped make the event a success. She presented Florence Gingera with a bouquet of flowers for her many years of service as secretary of the League.

Membership Chairperson, Doris Chaychuk, presented pins to those members who had reached 30, 20 and 15 years of service. Two members received their new member pins.

Father Oleg, in his closing remarks commended the League on reaching this milestone of 65 years of work and dedication to support the needs of the Parish and charitable works.

The next Regional convention will be in Rossburn in 2020.
