During an interview a few days prior to the opening of the annual 2018 Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, the Head of the Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav promised that the Synod would provide as much information as possible during the gathering. With the help of Synod Secretariat and the Ukrainian Church's Information Service, His Beatitude made good on his promise. In fact this year the faithful and the general public were offered an unprecedented amount of information, photos and videos every day of the 10-day Synod. Most of the information was offered in Ukrainian, the working, common language of the Synod, but some was translated by various news services into the languages used by the Ukrainian Catholic Church around the world. And, even what was not available in text was made up for in extraordinary pictures and videos that told a lot. As the old adage goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words". Well, a video clip speaks volumes.

Towards the end of the Synod, the Bishops all made a trip from Lviv, across the border into Poland to celebrate the 325 years since the confirmation of unity between the ancient Episcopal See of Peremyshl and the Apostolic See of Rome. The historic event drew massive crowds of Ukrainian Catholic Faithful and others that wanted to be a part of the extraordinary opportunity of having almost all the leaders of the Ukrainian Catholic from around the world visit their city and celebrate the Divine Liturgy with them. Here is a video report by Zhyve.TV ("living television") on the special day...

There are many such video clips (even entire hierarchical Divine Liturgies!) available via the UGCC website. Click [HERE] for a everything that you may want to know about the Synod and its proceedings. Almost all of the last two weeks of articles are about the Synod. The Secretariat of the Synod, traditionally issues a communique about the Synod and its highlights. His Beatitude Sviatoslav also promulgates the decisions and resolutions of the Synod when they are ready. Watch this website for the texts of these two documents in the near future.
