Tuesday, 26 June 2018, Immaculate Heart of Mary School held their annual graduation day program beginning with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the majestic Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Cathedral near the school. The Archbishop of Winnipeg, His Grace Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak was the main celebrant and he preached the homily. Among the clergy that joined in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy were the Rector of the Cathedral, Monsignor Michael Buyachok and long-time, beloved Chaplain of the school, Basilian Monk Father Isidore Dziadyk.

The Liturgy was immediately preceded by the entrance of the graduating class. As each graduand came forward, she/he placed a rose in a vase set before the tetrapod. The graduating class was joined by their families and the entire school body of students and staff that wanted to be present to ask the Lord's blessings upon their eldest students as they now leave the school to other high schools around the city.

The Liturgy was prayed in the unique English-Ukrainian bilingual manner unique to Immaculate Heart School. The school, of course is open to families of various faith and cultural backgrounds - and they probably make up half of the school body - however, IHMS also maintains its Ukrainian Catholic heritage and shares it with all who enrol. The Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate who founded and continue to lead the operation of the School, are a global Ukrainian [Eastern rite] Catholic order of women religious that hold education as one of their foundational charisms.

Metropolitan Lawrence preached on the Gospel reading of the day wove it very well with the theme of graduation [Matthew 13:24-30]. He left the students with a very encouraging message of perseverance and trust and that they will move forward with the Lord and accomplish the God's Will in their lives.

At the close of the Liturgy, each of the graduation students was invited forward and were presented an engraved graduation medal by Sr. Ruth Aney, SSMI and their graduation Certificate by Metropolitan Lawrence.

Following they returned to the school for the Graduation awards ceremonies, a banquet and dance.
