Onetime General Superior of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, Sister Frances Byblow, is celebrating her 94th Birthday on May 9th. Life, since her first entering the global Ukrainian Catholic order of consecrated women, has taken her to many ministries in several countries. She served in healthcare facilities and she taught in schools. She served as superior on the local level and as "Provincial Superior" for Canada. Then she also served as the order's "General Superior" for a number of years. When serving as the highest superior for the Sisters Servants, she resided in Rome where she oversaw the work of the General Council and travelled around the world visiting the many communities of her Sisters throughout Europe, Australia and the Americas.

Now residing at "Bethany Home", the Sisters Servants' beautiful Manitoba headquarters on the bank of the Red River in Winnipeg, Sister Frances now has more time for prayer and meditation. However, she also remains very active corresponding with friends and associates, updating her blog "Stories of Joy", keeping up with the major expansion of the Sisters' nursing home facility "Holy Family Home" (see photo below), and promoting the causes for canonization of at least two of the Orders' Sisters - Blessed Josaphata and Blessed Martyr Tarsykia... as well as other persons associated with the history of the Order, like co-founders Frs. Jeremiah and Cyril.

[Sr Frances was born on what is the Gregorian calendar feast of the "Transfer of the relics of St. Nicholas" to Bari, Italy where they are venerated to this day. The Ukrainian tradition has been to refer to the feast as "Teply Mykolai" i.e. the "Warm feast of Nicholas", because this one happens in May unlike the major wintry feast of St. Nicholas that happens on December 6th.]

At breakfast, on the morning of her 94th Birthday, Sr, Francis told her Bethany Home community of Sisters that she already invites them all to her 100th Birthday celebration in six years....
