METROPOLITAN LAWRENCE LEADS ARCHEPARCHY IN FUNERAL SERVICES FOR SR. NATHANAEL PREYMA, SSMI

The funeral services for the late Sister Nathanael Preyma, SSMI were held at St. Nicholas Parish Church in Winnipeg on Monday morning March 26th. The Archbishop of Winnipeg, Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak, OSBM presided at the funeral services that included the Divine Liturgy, Panakhyda and interment at Holy Family Cemetery. He was joined by 14 priests and deacons, most of whom concelebrated at the altar, and a good number of religious Sisters and laity.

After the services, a funeral luncheon was offered for everyone in attendance in the parish auditorium. At the luncheon (traditionally known as the ‘tryzna') Sr. Theresa Matwe who came from Toronto, brought a message from the order's Provincial Superior Sr. Christina Syrotynsky, SSMI. Members of the Sr. Nathnael's family also shared stories and sentiments.

Sister Nathanael dedicated her life to the service of the Lord and His People. Her legacy is her instrumentality in the Word of God touching the hearts and souls of countless people during her 80 years (!) of religious life that took her all across the country to remote and large parishes and into a myriad of ministries…. "wherever the need is greatest" and doing "whatever is the greatest need".

Eternal Memory! Вічна їй пам'ять!
