The Ukrainian Catholic Parish of the Resurrection in Dauphin hosted a Canadian Documentary Film Tour on Wednesday, March 14, about the life and death of a world class Ukrainian opera singer, Wassyl Slipak. The documentary film "Myth" is being shown in various Canadian cities by Leonid Kanter and Ivan Yasnij, filmmakers from Ukraine, accompanied by the late artist's older brother Orest. This fundraiser is in support of the Wassyl Slipak Foundation, an ongoing aid to help families and veterans returning from the war to reintegrate into their former civilian lives. According to Andrij Potichnyj, facilitator and interpreter of the event, over $1500 was raised for this very worthy cause.

The film depicts the story of the opera singer who returned from France to help his countrymen fight the ongoing war against the Russian invasion of his homeland. Sadly the singer's operatic career came to an end as he died on the battlefield on June 29, 2016.

The CEO and Executive Director of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress in Ottawa, Ihor Michalchyshyn, was also in attendance. The UCC helped sponsor this film on its Canadian journey.
