August 19, 2014

Provincial Superior of the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate in Ukraine, Sister Boniface Dyakiv, informed, that on Saturday, August 16, the premises of the Monastery of All Saints of Ukraine in Donetsk was captured by the Pro-Russian mercenaries who settled at the premises of the Monastery.

At the request of Bishop Stefan Meniok of Donetsk, the three nuns who worked at the monastery, left the city in July for safety reasons. At the time of take over, the sisters were not in the monastery. The only thing that they left behind were their personal belongings, church articles and a car.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate’s ministry in Donetsk and Kharkiv Exarchates. We all expect that with the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the not so distant future the sisters will continue their ministry in Donetsk and Luhansk. At the present time the sisters from Donetsk continue their ministry in Western Ukraine and work with children and displaced families from Eastern Ukraine.
