You should have a Shepherd's Heart

October 9, 2015

The clergy of the Archeparchy of Winnipeg together with Metroplitan Lawrence Huculak, OSBM held their Annual Clergy Retreat at Hecla Island from September 29 till October 2, 2015. This year retreat was led by Bishop Paul Chomnycky, OSBM bishop of Stamford Eparchy.

In his retreat talks, Bishop Paul stressed the importance of the service to the faithful of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. He reiterated the idea of Pope Francis that the pastors should smell like their sheep, recognizing the problems and the needs of the faithful. He stressed the idea of having a Shepherd's Heart as the main reason for being a true priest of Christ. Bishop Paul also reminded to the clergy to rejuvenate the priestly service with the prayers of preparation before the beginning of the Divine Liturgy.

Truly it was a time of renewing and revitalizing our vocation and our zeal to serve the people of God.
