The Beginning of the School Year

September 4, 2015

The month of August liturgically celebrated the blessing of the fruits of the harvest on the Feast of the Transfiguration and a blessing of flowers and herbs on the Feast of the Dor-mition of the Theotokos. In our civic calendar the children are back or will soon be back to school and Labour Day sadly signals Summer vacations are over. And hope that they were enjoyable. Our liturgical year begins September 1st with the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on September 8th and the Exaltation of the Holy Cross on September 14th. bringing us back from our Summer adventures to focus back into routine.

Heavenly Father, We thank you for the opportunity to begin this new school year, and we ask that you bless our parishes, faculty, student and families that make our school a great place to learn. We pray that you will guide us in all ways, so that we will seek Your will in everything that we do. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
