Metropolitan Lawrence visited the Ukrainian Park camp on Wednesday 8 July and Wednesday 15 July. The first week was the week for the older children (grades 6 to 10) and the second visit was during the week for the younger children grades K-6. Also during the second visit, Metropolitan Lawrence was warmly welcomed at the PLAST camp which sang for him a selection of lively folk songs related to Ukrainian Folk Tales – the theme of their program this year.
Both visits include the Divine Liturgy celebrated by the Metropolitan at the large wooden camp chapel dedicated to St. Volodymyr. During his homily, Metropolitan alluded to the particular historic significance of the feats of St. Volodymyr this year as it marks 1000 years since his passing from this life.
At the lunch, to the delight and terror of his audience, His Grace told a new version of his now famous Ogopogo story. He was accompanied by Very Rev. Mark Gnutel and Very Rev. Michael Kwiatkowski.
