The gift of the Holy Spirit
May 26, 2015
This month we were very blessed in the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg with the presence of the truly extraordinary Traveling Icon and Sacred Relic of Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska. The process of her beatification started in Rome in 1983 and on June 27, 2001 she was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Lviv. Numerous miracles are attributed to her intercession. The icon of Blessed Josaphata has traveled the world and visited the countries where the SSMI live and work such as Argentina, Brazil and the United States. It arrived in Canada on January 16, 2015 as part of its worldwide tour. It will remain in Canada until June 2015 and then it will be taken to Australia.
On Sunday May 24, 2015 His Grace Metropolitan Lawrence together with the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate and the clergy had the closing prayer service in honor of the visit of the Holy Relic and Icon of Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska. At 4:30 pm a prayerful procession took place from the Lubov Foundation office to the Holy Family Home Park. The Moleben to Blessed Josaphata was celebrated at the Holy Family Home Park Chapel. This was followed by a BBQ in the park prepared by the sisters and volunteers.
In his talk His Grace Metropolitan Lawrence expressed gratitude for the gift of Blessed Josaphata to our Church. He stated, that we were graced with her presence and blessed to venerate the Holy Icon and the Relic and to pray for special graces in our life. The Metropolitan said that on the day of Pentecost, the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, we are open to the many gifts of the Holy Spirit, one of which would be the gift of holiness. These past days we were touched by that holiness through Blessed Josaphata. Even though the Blessed is leaving us, she is giving us the gift and example of her life concluded Metropolitan Lawrence.
As we celebrate the Year of Consecrated Life, we are grateful to our Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate for the gift of Blessed Josaphata and for all their dedicated service and work. Blessed Josaphata, through your example and intercession, may more women choose to dedicate themselves to the consecrated life.
Blessed Josaphata Pray for All of Us!
