The Reliquary Icon of Blessed Josaphata on Pilgrimage
May 6, 2015
May 1, 2015, His Grace Metropolitan Lawrence, the clergy and the SSMI welcomed the relic and the Icon of Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska, to the Ukrainan Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. The icon will travel to various parishes, schools, senior homes, where, in a spiritual sense, Blessed Josaphata will be experiencing the mission of our Sisters, and at the same time we will be experiencing the graces that come from having among us a person who is on her way to sainthood.
The Divine Liturgy honouring arrival of Blessed Josaphata reliquary icon was celebrated at St. Nicholas Church.
The Reliquary Icon of Blessed Josaphata, Co-Foundress of Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate, was written in honour of the 125th Anniversary to be celebrated in 2017 of the founding of the SSMI in Ukraine and was blessed by His Beatitude Patriarch Sviatoslav.
It has traveled the world and visited the countries where the SSMI live and work. The icon has already travelled to Argentina, Brazil and the United States. It arrived in Canada on January 16, 2015 as part of its worldwide tour to countries where our SSMIs are serving. It will remain in Canada until mid- August 2015 when it will be taken to Poland.
All the faithful are encouraged to join this special pilgrimage and to share the Spirit of Blessed Josaphata!
The relic and the Icon will continue to travel amongst our parishes for the month of May.
