40 CANS FOR LENT

February 17, 2015

Hunger knows no season. Everyday many people are going hungry. During this Lenten Season, we hope to make a positive presence and help two wonderful local Catholic charities: The Missionary Sisters of Charity who operate a Soup Kitchen and Welcome Home who are trying to establish a food bank to help those they minister to. We are inviting all our parishioners to participate in a new project called 40 Cans for Lent and to be mindful of those who are not as fortunate as ourselves by assisting these two Catholic ministries right here in Winnipeg. The goal is for each parishioner or parish family to contribute one can of food per day during the forty days of Lent. If you can help, we invite you can drop off your cans of vegetables, soups, fruit or Pasta and tomato sauce etc. in the round containers found in the front entrance/narthex of our parish during this Lenten season. Thank you in advance and God bless you for sharing your blessings and generosity with others. Matthew 25:40 - and Jesus said “I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these brothers of mine, you did it for me!”
