At his Sunday Angelus today (23 Jan 2022), Pope Francis expressed his concern about the catastrophic potential of the Ukraine/Russia crisis and called for a Day of Prayer for Peace on Wednesday of this week. (See excerpts below).
His Grace, Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak, is asking ask all
parishes to participate in this day in a collective manner locally and province-wide.
PLEASE Join in the various prayerful events as listed below, and, organize services and vigils for your local parish community and neighbours.

Pope Francis' comments.....
"I am following with concern the increase of tensions that threaten to inflict a new blow to the peace in Ukraine, and call into question the security of the European continent, with wider repercussions. I make a heartfelt appeal to all people of good will, that they may raise prayers to God Almighty, that every political action and initiative may serve human brotherhood, rather than partisan interests. Those who pursue their own interests, to the detriment of others, disregard their human vocation, as we were all created as brothers and sisters. For this reason, and with concern, given the current tensions, I propose that next Wednesday, 26 January be a day of prayer for peace."
«З тривогою стежу за зростанням напруження, що загрожує завдати нового удару по мирові в Україні та підважує безпеку на всьому Європейському континенті, що має ще ширші наслідки. Звертаюся із палким закликом до всіх людей доброї волі підносити молитви до всемогутнього Бога, щоб кожна політична дія та ініціатива більше служила загальнолюдському братерству, а не частковим інтересам. Той, хто прагне досягти своєї мети, завдаючи шкоди іншим, зневажає власне покликання людини, бо всі ми створені братами і сестрами. Тому, занепокоєний теперішнім напруженням, пропоную, щоб наступна середа, 26 січня, була Днем молитви за мир».
