Last Sunday, December 7, 2104, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress's Manitoba Provincial Council held rally at the Manitoba Legislature to mark the first anniversary of the Euromaidan and the Revolution of Dignity. The Ukrainians lit the candles and raised the flags to commemorate all who died defending the country and to show unity with Ukraine. Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak, OSBM prayed together with the people gathered to remember Heavenly Hundred of the Revolution of Dignity and all who were killed in Ukraine fighting against Russian forces and pro-Russian supporters in the past year.
Lots of things happened over the past year, however the most dramatic for Ukrainians would be the Russian aggression in the east of the country and annexation of Crimea peninsula. The main purpose of this event is to raise awareness in the Canadian society to the present difficult situation in Ukraine and the present danger that Russia presents for the country and the world.
